2019: Say Yes to Adventure

New Year, New Me?  Of course!   The beginning of a New Year is the perfect occasion to assess where one is at, and where one wants to be.   Because, if we're not looking to grow as a human and add to our experience of life, then are we really living?   Last year I set three words of intention for 2018 - Joy, Purpose & Courage (which you can read about here ).  2018 was a fantastic year for me - I took a lot of big steps, some which were way out of my comfort zone, and I was rewarded immensely for it.  More on that on a later blog to come. So what about 2019?  The first thing that popped into my mind on the 1st of January was "Say Yes to Adventure".  Yep, lets go with that.   So, w hat is adventure?   Typically painted as 'exploration into the unknown, fraught with danger and risk', - I don't think it's just about doing extreme, exciting and unusual things. This year's birthday challenge

For my birthday the last few years (except for 2017 when I was injured) I've set myself a running challenge to celebrate another year old.  Basically, any excuse to do a new adventure and challenge myself really!  In previous years it's been running the length of the river track in Palmerston North (it was the first time I had done it, and the first time I'd run 10km after the birth of my third son), and running the Gorge for the first time. This year I had the Paekakariki Escarpment track in mind.  The last few times we've driven to Wellington along the Kapiti Coast, I've pointed out the trail to my husband.  It's a track cut into the hillside between Paekakariki and Pukerua Bay.  I'd seen photos on Facebook and Instagram from others who'd done the track, and was keen to give it a go for myself!
